Lakes Entrance
There are King George whiting at the footbridge and around the town jetties, barracoota are near the footbridge floating jetty. Cunninghame Arm for trevally and pinkies, Nungurner and North Arm for garfish. Surf beach for salmon and tailor. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for a mixed bag.
Lake Tyers
The upper reaches of the Nowa Nowa Arm for good flathead on soft plastics, also try Long Point and the Burnt Bridge area. Perch are around the timber structures. The banks are the best spot for bream. The entrance is open.
Mitchell River
Due to the recent rains the Grassy Banks and down to the river mouth are the best spots for bream, best baits are soft shell, crab and shrimp.
Tambo River
From Punthouse Point to the Three Gums and The Snags are good for bream, best results using soft shell, crab and prawn. Give the upper reaches a try as well.
Nicholson
Best spots for bream are at the river mouth and between the two bridges, try cut crab, soft shell and shrimp.
Metung
Garfish are active around the Nungurner Jetty on usual baits. Also try Chinaman’s Creek and Box’s Creek for bream.
Paynesville
The Yacht Club jetty for mullet, which are also active around Raymond Island on pipis, small pieces of squid and mussels. Town jetties for bream on soft shell, crab and shrimp.
Holland’s Landing
Try the Strait and the Loch Sport town jetties for bream, mullet, garfish and whiting.
Marlo
Lake Corringle and French’s Narrow is still the best spot for bream, taking frozen prawn and crab. Fish for salmon and tailor on incoming tides and in the surf, taking metal lures.
Bemm River
Bream are active in the lake taking local prawn. Salmon are in the channel taking metal lures.
Tamboon Inlet
Head to the mouth of the river for bream, try Peter’s Rock for salmon biting on lures and blue bait. The entrance is still open.
Mallacoota
Top Lake for bream and flathead, preferred baits being soft shell crab, shrimp and prawn also try soft plastics. Surf for salmon and tailor on pilchard and poppers.
Omeo High Country
Closed season.
