East Gippsland acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Monero and the Bidawel people as the Traditional Custodians of the land that encompasses East Gippsland Shire. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in East Gippsland, their Elders past and present.

Find the wild in Wildlife

Walk a while and discover how rich our region is with wildlife. Shifting silently with your eyes open widely and you may see; Burrunan dolphins playing in the lake, koalas sleeping soundly, kangaroos enjoying the morning dew or an eagle soaring high above. Our cute friendly locals can often be found in some very accessible places, while some hide well in the beauty of nature.
