East Gippsland acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Monero and the Bidawel people as the Traditional Custodians of the land that encompasses East Gippsland Shire. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in East Gippsland, their Elders past and present.

Much more than a beautiful paddock

On the flats of the Mitchell River, amongst some of the most fertile land in the country sits the tiny country hamlet of Lindenow. Showcased as a natural “food bowl” you can enjoy some of the locally grown goods at The Long Paddock, or sip a pinot from Lightfoot & Son’s cellar door.

Venture a little west into the Mitchell River National Park and part of the Bataluk Cultural Trail is the cultural site of Den of Nargun. The heritage area is complemented with natural beauty of waterfalls, rock pools and native wildlife.
