East Gippsland acknowledges the Gunaikurnai, Monero and the Bidawel people as the Traditional Custodians of the land that encompasses East Gippsland Shire. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in East Gippsland, their Elders past and present.

Stories around the campfire

Switch off the screens and switch on the outdoors! Pitch a tent and enjoy the natural serenity that comes automatically without the need for wifi. Free camping spots are dotted throughout East Gippsland’s footprint along waterways, by the beach or in the high country. For those wishing to enjoy camping with the luxuries, Caravan Parks are a plenty.

Many sites are managed by the Victorian Government. Visit Parks Victoria to find out more or drop into a local Visitor Information Centre. For safe caravanning and camping, you can access dump points at various locations around our region.
