Lakes Entrance
The footbridge has barracouta taking pilchards, there may be some snapper chasing the barracouta. Garfish have made an appearance taking worm and pipis as preferred bait. Surf beaches for salmon, best results on pilchards, also try metal lures. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for snapper and morwong. Closer to the beach there is gummy shark to be had.
Lake Tyers
Heading up the system for bream around the 42cm mark taking shallow divers. There is some flathead around the 55cm mark heading up the Nowa Nowa Arm.
Mitchell River
The river is a bit muddy as rain from the upper reach’s drifts down but from Grassy Banks and down to the river mouth is the best spot for bream with best results using soft shell, crab and prawn.
Tambo River
The Power Lines, Lucerne Paddock, The Blue Hole and The Cliffs for bream taking soft shell, crab and shrimp.
Nicholson
From the Swimming Hole up to the two bridges heading onto The Car Bodies and the Junction are the best spots for bream using cut crab, soft shell and prawn.
Metung
Head to the Silver Shot Jetty for whiting – give pipis, worm, mussel and squid legs cut into small pieces a go. Give the boardwalk a try as well.
Paynesville
Try Banksia Peninsula and Duck Arm for bream, mullet and garfish. Also try Newlands Arm for mullet and bream, preferred baits being worm and peeled prawn.
Holland’s Landing
Tom’s Creek, Jones’ Bay, Blonde Bay and down to Storm Point for bream, mullet and the odd tailor using prawn and white bait.
Marlo
Lake Corringle is still the best for bream which are around the 40cm mark. At the surf beach near the entrance are salmon chasing metal lures. Offshore when you can get out for flathead and gummy shark.
Bemm River
The entrance is still open, Salmon are in the channel chasing metal lures. Bream are in the lake taking local prawn.
Tamboon Inlet
River mouth for bream on local prawn and shrimp. Surf for salmon on pilchards and poppers.
Mallacoota
Surf beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers. Offshore for a mixed bag.
Omeo High Country
Closed season.
