Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 5th May

Lakes Entrance

Both the North and Cunningham Arms have bream and some flathead, King George whiting can be found around the Islands. Eastern and Bunga surf beaches have trevally and salmon, taking pilchards and poppers, give metal lures a try as well. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for snapper, trevally and salmon.

Lake Tyers

Fishing is good, with bream and flathead heading up towards Nowa Nowa. Best spots are Trident Arm, Cameron’s Arm and the upper reaches of the Nowa Nowa Arm.

Mitchell River

Bream are still active at the 2 bridges, with best results on soft plastics, prawn and mussels. Give the back water and the football ground a look as well.

Tambo River

Best spots for bream at the moment are The Snag’s and into Swan Bay using prawn, soft plastics and cut crab.

Nicholson

Between the 2 bridges with drifting prawn for bream. The river mouth and Thumb Point are also worth a look, try prawn or soft plastics.

Metung

The Nungurner area, around The Flats and weed patches with pipis, worm and mussels. Also try the Rigby Channel.

Paynesville

In the Strait and around the town jetties for bream, Ocean Grange and Steamer Landing is also worth a try for salmon, best baits being pilchards and poppers.

Holland’s Landing

The Strait into Bull Point and heading up to Tom’s Creek are best for bream, perch, garfish and carp.

Marlo

Luderick are still around the rock groynes. Bream can be found in the Brodribb, Lake Curlip, the islands and French’s Narrows. Surf beach for salmon and tailor, offshore is producing a mixed bag.

Bemm River

In the lake for bream, with prawn as the preferred bait, the Channel for salmon and tailor using soft plastics and metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet

Furnell Landing and the river mouth for bream biting on shrimp and prawn, give Western Bay a look using cut crab. Salmon and tailor are in the lake taking lures and pilchards.

Mallacoota

Bream and flathead are in the top and bottom lake, using prawn and plastics. Tailor are in the channel. The boat ramp has been cleared for boats to go out as there are kingfish about.

Omeo High Country

All river levels are good, and fishing has improved with the best spots for trout being the Mitta Mitta and Livingston.
