Lakes Entrance
For a mixed bag try the Footbridge and floating jetty. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on pilchards, poppers, and hard bodied lures. Offshore at Six Mile Reef has morwong, flathead, pinkies, and the odd gummy. The water temp has dropped as winter sets in.
Lake Tyers
Around the islands and into Camerons Arm for bream. Tailor and salmon are active on the surf beaches using bait or metal lures.
Mitchell River
With fresh water entering the river, bream have made their way closer to the river mouth, best baits are soft shell, cut crab, spider crab and plastics.
Tambo River
From the Power Lines to Howletts Flat and all the way to The Snags and Tambo Light for bream chasing local prawn, cut crab and soft shell.
Nicholson
There are nice sized bream around the 48cm mark to be had, using spider crab, soft shell, cut crab and local prawn. Tailor are around the river mouth taking metal lures.
Metung
Best spots for bream are at the mouth of the Tambo River, Bancroft Bay, Chinamans Creek and Box’s Creek, with prawn, cut crab, spider crab and soft plastics.
Paynesville
Try the town jetties and structures for bream, best results using soft shell, local prawn, cut crab and spider crab. The odd tailor are about chasing metal lures.
Holland's Landing
For bream and the odd flathead try the mouth of Lake Wellington into McLennan Strait and Griffin Point, preferred baits being soft plastics, worm, local prawn, cut crab and spider crab.
Marlo
Lake Corringle, the Brodribb River and Bream Point have bream biting on cut crab, prawn, soft shell, worm, and spider crab. Salmon and tailor are taking metal lures on the incoming tide. Offshore for a mixed bag.
Bemm River
The entrance is still open, salmon are in the channel chasing metal lures, bream can be found in the lake, try using local prawn and soft plastics. Surf beaches for tailor and salmon on blue bait.
Tamboon Inlet
Bream are active in the river biting on cut crab, prawn, soft plastics and spider crab. Tailor are also about chasing metal lures. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on poppers and pilchards.
Mallacoota
Top and bottom lakes have bream and good-sized flathead, which are spawning at the moment, also give the upper reaches of the river a go, using plastics and local prawn. Surf beaches for tailor and salmon.
Omeo High Country
There has been a dumping of snow in the high country so please be careful walking along the rivers. Good sized trout are chasing earth worm, nymphs, soft plastics, fly patents, spinners, and wobblers.
