Lakes Entrance 

With the recent rains, the water colour is still a bit murky right throughout the lake system. Try under the highway bridge along the Rock Wall and up to Kalimna Jetty for a mixed bag. Bullock Island on the incoming tide and surf beaches for tailor and salmon. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for snapper, gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers

Good sized bream are in the main lake and around the channel makers. Flathead up to 90 cm are around the banks and main car park.

Caution - There is a whale carcass around the Lake Bunga, Lake Tyers Beach area, sharks may be present.

Mitchell River

Try the back water, highway bridge, Old Butter Factory, down to Shadoof Lodge, The Cut and the river mouth for bream, using prawn, cut crab, soft shell and soft plastics.

Tambo River

The Blue Hole, Burns Flat, Punthouse Point, around the river mouth, The Snags, and Salt Creek for bream on prawn and pipis.

Nicholson

For bream and the odd flathead give between the Two Bridges a go, as well as the Swimming Hole and the river mouth with drifting prawn, soft shell, shrimp and soft plastics.

Metung

Town jetties, Boxes Creek, Chinamans Creek and Shaving Point using soft shell, prawn and worm.

Paynesville

Best spots for bream are under the town jetties and the river mouth with cut crab, soft shell, prawn and soft plastics.

Holland's Landing

There has been some whiting on the move in the system. Give the Strait a look for bream and the odd flathead, preferred baits being white bait, prawn, pilchards and plastics. Surf beaches have salmon and tailor.

Marlo

Bream are around the second island, Frenchs Narrows and the town jetties. Surf beaches for tailor and salmon, offshore has flathead and gummy.

Bemm River

The lake and channel for bream and flathead, best results on soft plastics and prawn, surf beach for salmon chasing metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet

Try the river for bream, with cut crab and prawn, around the Football Ground for bream and flathead. Surf beach for salmon biting on pilchards and blue bait.

Mallacoota

The Top Lake, Genoa River and Harrisons Channel for bream and flathead. Under the town jetties are bream and trevally, offshore has a mixed bag. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor.

Omeo High Country

River levels have dropped and there is good fishing to be had in all the rivers, using the fly-fishing dropper method with a caddisfly, small lures, soft plastics, spinners and nymphs.
