Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 15th September

Lakes Entrance

Footbridge for whiting on pipis, worm and mussels, Bullock Island for salmon smashing metal lures. The surf beaches are landing salmon with blue bait and poppers. Offshore at Six Mile Reef is still producing plenty of snapper, pinkies and gummy shark. Water temperature is sitting around 12 degrees

Lake Tyers

Nice sized bream and flathead are up around both arms taking local prawn. Try Long Point for bream and the odd silver trevally.

Mitchell River

Eagle Point, The Cut and heading down to the river mouth for bream, using local prawn, soft shell and sand worm.

Tambo River

Try Marshall’s Flat, Three Gums, The Poplars and up to the Blue Hole, best results using soft shell, local prawn and soft plastics.

Nicholson

Fishing has been good from the Two Bridges heading up to The Cliff’s, Strait Six and The Junction, preferred baits being cut crab, local prawn and soft shell.

Metung

Small bream can still be found around the town jetties taking fresh prawn. Try the mouth of the Tambo River as well.

Paynesville

Newlands Arm for bream, town jetties for tailor and mullet on worm, prawn, mussels and pipis.

Holland’s Landing

Best spots for bream at the moment are McLennan Strait, The Woodpile, Hollands Landing, Bull Bay and Blonde Bay, with local prawn, soft shell, cut crab and soft plastics.

Marlo

Lake Corringle and around the islands are best for bream biting on prawn. Salmon and tailor are being caught off the surf beaches. Work has begun on the new boat ramp

Bemm River

Bream are still active in the lake, taking local prawn, give the channel a go for salmon on metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet

The river mouth and Furnell Landing for bream biting on cut crab and shrimp. Peter’s Rock for trevally using pilchards and blue bait. Surf beach for salmon around the 3kg mark, taking blue bait and pilchards.

Mallacoota

Flathead and bream can be found in the two lakes, best results with soft shell, prawn and soft plastics. Surf for salmon and tailor using pilchards and poppers.

Omeo High Country

All the rivers are worth a look for trout, preferred baits being spinners, wobblers, drifting earth worm and fly patience’s.
