Lakes Entrance
The footbridge has whiting taking pipis, worms and mussels. Trevally and snapper are around Cunningham Arm, best baits being pilchards and blue bait. Surf beaches for salmon and trevally on pilchards and poppers. Offshore at 6 Mile Reef for snapper and morwong, closer to the shore for gummies.
Lake Tyers
Flathead are about in the shallows, best results on local prawn and soft plastics. Bream can be found at the Snag’s and the structures in the upper reaches of the Nowa Nowa Arm. The entrance is closed.
Mitchell River
The recent rains have made the river muddy, best spots for bream are from the Two Bell’s down to the river mouth, taking prawn, soft shell crab and shrimp.
Tambo River
Bream are active around The Snag’s, Swan Bay and the Tambo Light, also try The Three Gum’s, preferred baits are soft shell crab and prawn.
Nicholson
The river is dirty with the recent rains. Bream are from The Two Bridges all the way up to The Strait Six, using prawn, shrimp, soft shell crab and soft plastics.
Metung
Fishing is a bit quiet and the water a bit murky but try Chinaman’s and Boxes Creek for bream on prawn, soft shell and soft plastics.
Paynesville
Again, the water is a bit dirty, so try Newlands Arm, The Straight, town jetties and structures for bream, biting on prawn and shrimp. Surf beach for salmon and trevally.
Holland’s Landing
McLennan Strait, The Wood Pile, Hollands Landing and Tom’s Creek are the best spots for bream, taking shrimp, prawn and soft shell.
Marlo
Lake Corringle is the best place for bream. The Snowy River is a bit murky still. Surf beach for salmon and tailor chasing metal lures. Offshore, is a mixed bag, if you are able to get out.
Bemm River
The entrance is still open, with salmon in the channel chasing metal lures. The lake has good bream, best results with local prawn.
Tamboon Inlet
Try the river mouth and up to Lake Furnell for bream, using shrimp and cut crab. The Western Bay for trevally on blue bait, Peter’s Rock for salmon, try lures and blue bait. The entrance is open.
Mallacoota
Bream and flathead are high up in the Genoa River, around Cape Horn and The Two Rivers, with best results on vibes. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on the usual baits.
Omeo High Country
Closed season.
