Lakes Entrance
There are still some good snapper to be had around Cunninghame Arm, whiting are also active in the North Arm, Cunninghame Arm and around the Islands. Surf beaches are landing nice salmon on lures and blue bait, also trevally on blue bait. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for pinky snapper, nanigi, and morwong. Water temperature is around 14 degrees.
Lake Tyers
There are salmon and perch in the lake system, bream are active in the upper reaches biting on prawn and plastics, Flathead are up at Nowa Nowa taking prawn and plastics.
Mitchell River
From Shadoof Lodge to The Bluff and Eagle Point there are bream around the 30 -35cm mark, best results on prawn, spider crab and 21/2 plastic grubs. Bigger bream must be caught and released.
Tambo River
The best spots for bream are around Tambo Bay, Punt House Point, The Lucerne Paddock, The Blue Hole, The Cliffs and The Log Hole, producing on prawn, soft plastics, shell spider crab and soft plastics.
Nicholson
Best spots for bream is between the Two Bridges, best baits being spider crab, prawn and soft plastics. Bream bigger than 28cm must be released.
Metung
There are a lot of juvenile bream around the town jetties and Chinaman’s Creek. Whiting are around the Nungurner Jetty, heading towards the Island and The Barrier, taking squid legs, pipis and mussels.
Paynesville
Give the Strait and town jetties a go as most of the bream are heading up stream, best results on spider crab, prawn and soft plastics.
Holland’s Landing
Best spots for bream at the moment are McLennan Strait, Tom’s Creek and Blonde Bay using live shrimp, peeled prawn and soft plastics.
Marlo
Mullet and bream are in the 2 rivers biting on prawn and spider crab, flathead are along Motts Beach and French’s Narrows. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on the usual baits, try metal lures as well.
Bemm River
Bream are in the lake producing good results on local prawn, soft plastics and spider crab. Surf for salmon on the usual baits, give the Channel a go as well.
Tamboon Inlet
Bream and some pinkies can be found in the river, using prawn and cut crab. Surf beach for salmon and tailor on metal lures.
Mallacoota
Town jetties for trevally, Harrisons Channel for flathead and luderick on soft plastics, white and pink are best. Try the upper reaches of the Genoa and Wallagaraugh Rivers for bream on the standard baits.
Omeo High Country
Try the lower of the river systems, Anglers Rest, Mitta Mitta River, Lake Omeo and The Gibbo. Please take care whilst fishing in the High Country.
