Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 23rd June

Lakes Entrance

Cunninghame Arm is producing 6kg snapper, best results with squid and pilchards. Head towards the golf course on the incoming tide for kingfish. Whiting can be found at the Footbridge on pipis, worm and mussels. The surf beaches are landing trevally and salmon taking lures and blue bait. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for a good mixed bag.

Lake Tyers

Bream are in the main arm and all the way up to Nowa Nowa, flathead are cruising the shallows. The Glasshouse is also worth a look, with local prawn and soft plastics.

Mitchell River

From the Grassy Banks to The Cut and heading down to the river mouth are best for bream, preferred baits being spider crab, prawn and cut crab.

Tambo River

Best spots for bream at the moment are from Clues Bluff, Burn’s Flat, The Blue Hole and all the way to The Cliffs, best results on lures and soft plastics.

Nicholson

The fishing club held a comp last week and the best spots for bream were the Car Bodies and heading up to The Tyers. Their biting on soft plastics and lures.

Metung

Flathead are biting at Shaving Point on local prawn and plastics. Whiting are still around the Islands taking pipis, squid legs and mussels.

Paynesville

Try the Deep-Water Jetty and the Old Wooden Groynes for bream and mullet, using prawn, worm and soft plastics. Newlands Arm, The Strait’s and town jetties for flathead.

Holland’s Landing

McLennan Strait had a big catch and release fishing comp with 15 big black breams, around the 46cm mark being landed, using live shrimp and peeled prawn.

Marlo

Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on the usual baits, bream are active around the 3 islands and town jetties. Give Mott’s beach and French’s Narrows a go for flathead.

Bemm River

Bream are in the lake, taking local prawn and plastics. Surf beach for salmon biting on poppers and pilchards, also try The Channel with lures.

Tamboon Inlet

Bream are active in the river, best results with cut crab and prawn, the Football Ground for pinkies and trevally around the 42cm mark. Salmon are in the lake taking lures.

Mallacoota

The Bull Ring and Wallagaraugh River for bream, flathead and perch. For tailor, trevally and luderick give the South West Arm, the top lake, town wharf and Captain’s Point a go. Surf beach has salmon and tailor on the usual baits.

Omeo High Country

Dartmouth Dam is producing good fish, all other rivers are expecting snowfall over the coming weekend. Please be aware of weather conditions whilst fishing up in these areas.
