Lakes Entrance
Whiting are around town jetties on usual baits also some small pinkie snapper. Head to Eastern Beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers. King fish are active past the footbridge and down to the Eastern Beach car park. Try offshore at Six Mile reef for snapper, leather jacket, morwong and nanigi.
Lake Tyers
Lake Tyers is producing big bream and flathead mainly on prawn, with the best bait being local prawn.
Mitchell River
Due to the inclement weather fishing is quiet around this area this week.
Tambo River
Try Punt Road at the jetty and down to the river mouth river. The river is very quiet at the moment. Upstream is very slow fishing.
Nicholson
Bream are being caught between the two bridges and around the Swimming Hole, best bait being frozen prawn and cured worm. Bigger fish are coming up the rivers to spawn.
Metung
Due to inclement weather fishing has been quiet this week. There is some whiting and small bream off the public jetties and boardwalk on fresh local prawn, whiting are biting on soft plastics.
Paynesville
The algae seems’ to be clearing. Look out for bream around the jetties and underneath the boat moorings and down in the canals, best with prawn and plastics. There are plenty of bream about, and you’d be unlucky not to catch a fish under 35cm.
Holland’s Landing
Due to the inclement weather fishing is quiet around this area this week.
Marlo
Due to the inclement weather fishing is quiet around this area this week.
Bemm River
The entrance is still open and there has been some bream in the lake taking soft plastics, blades and local prawn. Salmon are in the channel taking plastics and metal lures.
Tamboon Inlet
Still plenty of nice bream between Furnell Landing and the mouth of the river with best results using cut crab and prawn. In Western Bay, expect nice flatties using blue bait. Down on Peters Rock with the run-in tide they’re getting plenty of nice salmon and tailor using silver lures.
Mallacoota
There’s still bream being caught in the lake, off the beach for salmon and at the entrance using silver metal lures. Plenty of whales have been spotted in the ocean lately.
Omeo High Country
Due to the inclement weather fishing is quiet around this area this week.
