Weekly Fishing Report

Thursday 2nd June

Lakes Entrance

Whiting are still around the islands and heading up towards Metung. Some pinky snapper are to be found in the Cunninghame Arm on usual baits. Eastern beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers, also try metal lures. Offshore at Six Mile Reef which have snapper, leather jacket, nanigi and morwong. Water temperature is around 16 degrees.

Lake Tyers

Best spots for bream are from Toorloo Arm, Mill Point and heading up the Nowa Nowa Arm and all the way up to Cameron’s Arm and Happy Valley. Try the Devils Hole as well with the best bait being local prawn.

Mitchell River

Best spot for bream at the moment is the back water and the two bridges. Best results are using local prawn, spider crab and soft plastics.

Tambo River

Best spots for bream are at the Powerlines, Poplars, Three Gums and down to The Snags. Butcher Creek and Salt Creek are also worth a look. Best results using prawn, soft plastics and crab.

Nicholson

Between the two bridges and heading upstream for good size bream around the 48 to 49cm mark. Best bait is cured worm. Give the swimming hole and the river mouth a go.

Metung

King George whiting are heading up to Nyerimilang and the Nungurner area. Also try Reedy Bay, Rowley Point and Baxter Island. Best baits are worm, mussels and pipis.

Paynesville

Bream are best found in the canals and town jetties. Best results are on soft plastics and prawn with fish around the 38cm mark. Newlands Arm is good for flathead taking soft plastics and prawn.

Holland’s Landing

In the McLennan Strait and into Bull Bay for black bream taking prawn, plastics and worm. Club day for the black bream competition is being held on Saturday 18th June.

Marlo

Tailor are active on incoming tide, taking metal lures. Bream are in the estuary, salmon and tailor are on the surf beach taking pilchards and poppers. Offshore is producing a mixed bag.

Bemm River

Bream are to be found in the lake taking local prawn. Salmon are active in the Entrance Channel chasing metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet

Furnell Landing, Gibb’s Creek and Fisherman’s Landing are best for bream taking cut crab and local prawn. Surf beach for salmon and tailor on pilchards and poppers.

Mallacoota

Top and Bottom Lakes have bream and flathead on prawns, also try The Narrows. The town jetties are also worth a try for bream and trevally. The surf beach is producing salmon and tailor. Offshore is producing a mixed bag.

Omeo High Country

The best spot for good trout is in the Gibbo River with best results using fly patterns and lures. Water levels are all good in the High Country.
