Lakes Entrance
Whiting are active around the footbridge, Rigby Island and Fraser Island. Surf beach for salmon and tailor using lures with the usual baits. Offshore, snapper 6kg and bigger are about, gummies are being caught on the full moon. Water temp is sitting around 13.5⁰.
Lake Tyers
Bream around the 44cm mark can be found in the main lake, Long Point and the Snake Bite area. Flathead around 55cms and up are being landed towards Burnt Bridge. Surf beach for salmon and tailor.
Mitchell River
Best spots for bream are from the Grassy Banks heading towards the river mouth, using local prawn, soft shell, cut crab and sand worm.
Tambo River
The Three Gum’s, The Snag’s, Salt Creek and the Tambo Light for bream, with soft shell, cut crab, worm and soft plastics.
Nicholson
From the Swimming Hole down river and around Thumb Point for bream, also try between the Two Bridges and the Reeds, preferred baits being, soft shell, cut crab, worm and soft plastics.
Metung
Whiting can be found near Shaving Point, Rigby and Fraser Islands, best results using pipis, worm, mussels and small pieces of squid.
Paynesville
Try the town jetties and structures for bream and the odd tailor. Off the beach and on the full moon for gummies.
Holland’s Landing
Try the Southern shore and Botts’s Landing in the deeper holes from a boat and after the rains for mulloway. Bream and mullet are also around Botts’s landing, Plover Point for flathead taking sand worm
Marlo
The Snowy River is high and dirty, so try Lake Corringle for bream biting on soft shell, cut crab, worm and soft plastics. Surf beach for salmon and tailor on the usual baits.
Bemm River
Bream are in the river and the lake, best results on local prawn and plastics. Salmon can be found in the channel chasing lures.
Tamboon Inlet
The river mouth is producing good bream using crab and local prawn. The Sand Flats are best for flathead, taking lures. The odd tailor is about chasing metal lures.
Mallacoota
With the recent rains entering the system, town jetties and structures near the entrance would be more productive with soft shell, cut crab, and local prawn for bream and flathead. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor, offshore for gummies on the full moon
Omeo High Country
Please be aware, the High Country’s rivers and systems will be high and dirty with the recent rains coming down, give Dartmouth Dam a go using floating earth worm.
