Lakes Entrance
Whiting are in the Cunninghame Arm around Fraser and Rigby Islands, Kalimna Jetty and up to Metung on the usual baits. Salmon and tailor are also active in Cunninghame Arm. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor. Offshore at the Six Mile Reef and Pipeline for a good variety of fish.
Lake Tyers
Local prawns are running up at Nowa Nowa. Bream around the 40cm mark are in the lake and throughout the system, there is also plenty of flathead about, on prawn and soft plastics. The entrance is very shallow, water temp is at 24⁰. WARNING – THERE IS A WHALE CARCASS IN THE LAKE AS A RESULT SHARKS ARE ABOUT.
Mitchell River
From Shadoof Lodge to the river mouth for bream using soft shell and spider crab, perch and bass are also about. Salmon and tailor can be found in Lake Victoria on silver lures.
Tambo River
Best spots for bream are from the Power Lines, Punt House Point, the Three Gum’s and up into the river mouth, and the Swan and Tambo Bay’s, preferred baits being local prawn, soft shell and cut crab.
Nicholson
The Strait Six, Car Bodies, between the Two bridges and into the river mouth are good for bream and the odd flathead using drifting prawn.
Metung
There are plenty of juvenile salmon in the lake, as well as flathead and whiting. Shaving Point and into Bancroft Bay for whiting.
Paynesville
Whiting are around Carstairs Bank and around the Islands. Bream and mullet are at Newlands Arm on the usual baits.
Holland's Landing
Spooner Landing to Plover Point, McLennan Strait into Medusa Point and Bull Bay are best for bream and flathead, best results using white bait, prawn, cut pilchard and sandworm.
Marlo
Offshore for a mixed bag. The Rock Groynes for big luderick, bream and perch. Incoming tide for salmon, tailor and flathead. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor.
Bemm River
The lake is now open. The channel for salmon, with metal lures, bream are out and about chasing local prawn, blades and surface lures. Salmon from the surf beach, good results found using blue bait and pilchards.
Tamboon Inlet
In the river for bream, taking cut crab and shrimp, the lake for tailor. Eagons Bank for flathead, taking pilchards. Surf beach for salmon biting on pilchards and lures.
Mallacoota
The two lakes and Harrisons Channel are best for flathead, bream and mulloway, town jetties for a mixed bag. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor, offshore for a mixed bag.
Omeo High Country
Give Cobungra, Gibbo, Mitta Mitta, the Big River and Anglers Rest a try for trout using soft plastic’s, drifting earth worm, metal lures, spinners and fly patents.
