Lakes Entrance 

There is still garfish and grass whiting around the islands, luderick are active from the highway bridge to Kalimna Jetty. Cunninghame Arm has trevally, surf beaches for tailor and salmon. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for a mixed bag.

Lake Tyers

Moving along the banks of the main lake and around The Glasshouse for bream near the 41cm mark, best baits being local prawn, worm, or cured worm.

Mitchell River

Best spots for bream are from Shadoof Lodge to The Cut using hard bodied lures and vibes, soft shell, cut crab and prawn. Salmon and tailor are around the river mouth chasing metal lures.

Tambo River

From the river mouth to Clues Bluff, the Powerlines and up to the Log Hole for bream taking prawn, cut crab and soft shell.

Nicholson

The river mouth, Swimming Hole, the Two Bridges, Car Bodies and up to the Strait Six for bream on plastics, worm, prawn, soft shell and cut crab.

Metung

Try Box’s and Chinamans Creek for bream, the mouth of the Tambo River, Nungurner Jetty heading down to Kalima Jetty for luderick.

Paynesville

Lake King and Lake Victoria for tailor and salmon chasing metal lures, the town jetties and structures have bream and the odd mullet.

Holland's Landing

Blonde Bay is good for bream, mullet, flathead and luderick, preferred baits are soft shell, peeled prawn and sandworm. Tom’s Creek is also worth a look.

Marlo

Frenchs Narrows and the backwaters for bream on sandworm also salmon and tailor on the incoming tide using metal lures. Surf beaches are landing tailor and salmon.

Bemm River

The entrance is still open, the channel and surf beaches for salmon and tailor taking metal lures. Try the lake for bream, best results with prawn.

Tamboon Inlet

Bream are in the river mouth and up to Cann River on prawn. The main lake for tailor using local prawn, surf beaches are landing salmon and tailor.

Mallacoota

Top and bottom lakes are the best spots for bream, give cut crab and local prawn a go. Surf beaches have tailor and salmon biting on metal lures. Offshore has a mixed bag.

Omeo High Country

Trout season reopens - Saturday 2nd September 2023.
