East Gippsland Fishing Report - Thursday 17th August

Lakes Entrance 

Some king fish have been sited in the Cunninghame Arm. Also try the rock wall and head up to the Kalimna Jetty for luderick. The whale carcass has drifted down to the Eastern Beach. Offshore at the Six Mile Reef a mixed bag. Water temp is at 10-11°.

Lake Tyers

The odd trevally and some perch are to be had. Best results using soft plastics. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on usual baits water temp is around 10°.

Mitchell River

From Shadoof Lodge and up to the highway bridge best baits being soft shell, cut crab and prawn for bream and perch.

Tambo River

Try Burn’s Flat and the Lucerne Paddock and the Blue Hole, The Cliffs and Log Hole for bream, perch with best results on soft shell, cut crab, prawn, soft plastics and worm.

Nicholson

Between the two bridges for bream with soft shell, worm, cut crab and soft plastics being the best baits. Also from the Reeds and up to the Strait Six is also worth a look.

Metung

The town jetties and the board walk for bream. Best baits being local prawn, soft shell and soft plastics. Also try Bancroft Bay for salmon and tailor chasing metal lures and Chinaman’s Creek and Bell Point for bream

Paynesville

Town jetties are good for mullet, bream and tailor which are out and about chasing metal lures.

Holland's Landing

Try the Rock Groynes scattered along the Southern shore of Lake Victoria for bream, mullet and tailor which are chasing metal lures. Use soft shell cut crab and prawn.

Marlo

Bream are active in French’s Narrow. Salmon and tailor on incoming tide at the surf beach on metal lures. Mullet are also about taking worm.

Bemm River

Entrance is still open and bream are active taking prawn and soft plastics. Head to the surf beach for salmon using lures and blue bait.

Tamboon Inlet

Bream are active at Peter’s Rock, and mullet and luderick are about too. Give Pelican Point for bream a go and try Old Man Point as well as surf beach for salmon and tailor chasing lures.

Mallacoota

There are whiting near the entrance on pip’s and worm. Salmon and tailor are active on the surf beach. Bream are active in the top lake on prawn, soft shell, cut crab and plastics.

Omeo High Country

Trout season reopens - Saturday 2nd September 2023.
