BuchanCaves3.1Originally named Bukan-Mungie (“the place of rocks with holes in them"), Buchan is renowned for its caves, limestone cliffs and the majestic Snowy River. Situated in a picturesque valley, Buchan has a rich history including fossils and bones of creatures found in the mega fauna period dating back 10,000 years. Buchan is also one of Victoria’s oldest European settlements and was founded by pioneers as they made their way south from the Monaro Tablelands in NSW.

Nestled in the foothills of the Snowy River Valley you will find the Buchan Caves where you can enjoy the beauty of the Royal and Fairy Caves. The caves are a constant 17 degrees celsius, perfect for visiting on a hot summers day or even a cold rainy day. The Buchan Caves Reserve boasts an impressive system of walking tracks varying from short and easy walks to the more challenging. There is so much to see and do in Buchan.
