Lakes Entrance
The shallow banks are the best spots for flathead, using prawn and soft plastics for best results. Bullock island for the odd salmon. Try surf beaches for trevally and salmon on the usual baits. Water temp offshore at six-mile reef is slowly moving up try for a mixed bag and pinkies.
Lake Tyers
Fishing has been a bit slow but the odd bream and trevally are about, also try Burnt Bridge and shallow banks for flathead. Water temperature is around 14⁰ and with temp improving flatties will become more active.
Mitchell River
From Grassy Banks to Shadoof Lodge and heading up to Picnic Point there are seagoing trout taking worm. Bream are biting on soft shell, cut crab and prawn, also try soft plastics.
Tambo River
Best spots for bream include Log Hole, The Cliffs, Lucerne Paddock, Bennetts Brook and all the way up to the three Gums and the Snags. Best baits being cut crab, prawn and drifting prawn baits.
Nicholson
Try for bream between the two bridges, The Reeds, The Cliffs and The Poplars up to the junction.
Metung
Nungurner Jetty and Baxter Island are best spots for bream and flathead. Give Rowley Point and Flannigan Island a try for bream, flathead, mullet and tailor. The town jetties and Chinamans creek are worth a look using prawn, plastics and soft-shell crab.
Paynesville
Bream are in the canals and the Straits chasing prawn. Try surf beaches for salmon and tailor on usual baits.
Holland's Landing
From Lake Wellington and into McLennan Strait is best for bream. Also give Seacombe Landing a try for bream, flathead and mullet best baits being worm, soft plastics, prawn and white bait.
Marlo
Head to Lake Corringle for bream which are taking worm. Salmon and tailor are taking lures on incoming tide on surf beaches, pilchards and poppers for best results.
Bemm River
The entrance is still open and bream are up river chasing soft plastics and prawn. Salmon are in the channel chasing metal wires.
Tamboon Inlet
Plenty of bream in the river, best baits being prawn and shrimp. Trevally and pinkies at the football ground taking pilchards. Try Peters Rock for tailor chasing metal lures. The lake is still closed.
Mallacoota
Top Lake up around The Narrows for flathead on prawn and soft plastics. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on usual baits. The town jetties are also worth a look as well as Harrison’s Channel and offshore for mixed bag.
Omeo High Country
Trout are active throughout all of the rivers, best spots include Anglers Rest, Big River, Lake Omeo, Mitta Mitta, Gibbo River and Cobungra, try all baits for best results.
